The recovery guidelines outlined below, only apply to the initial abend(s), subsequent abends would still need to be reported to the on-call. The operator is not locked into these guidelines and, should they spot something out of the ordinary, or at any time feels uncomfortable with proceeding with the recovery, they would still contact the responsible on-call.
The chart below is meant to be readily referenced document outlining the necessary and KEY steps to recovering a server... A quick reference chart, if you will. The operator still will need to provide, as he does now, the commands necessary to load the backup software, and status the server (i.e.: the VOLUMES and MIRROR STATUS commands etc.) to determine it's overall status. The following guidelines only apply to abends, and not to other conditions such as hard drive deactivations for example. The most common of these abends would be the parity error, or MSEngine Different output abend, for example.
